Many of our readers smoke weed and are into witchy things so I wanted to share a book I have practiced with over the past month. Aptly titled 420 Meditations: Enhance Your Spiritual Practice with Cannabis, Wake, Bake & Meditate: Take Your Spiritual Practice to a Higher level with Cannabis (Llewellyn Worldwide), is written by Kerri Connor, an accomplished author, and leader in the Pagan community. She is the High Priestess of The Gathering Grove (a family-friendly, earth-based spiritual group) and has been practicing her craft for over 35 years.
This book intrigued me because much like Kerri, cannabis is my preferred method of medicating. Over the years I've found daily reflections are vital to my personal and spiritual development. I am a mom and I work, in addition to writing music and for this blog. It's a fun and busy life. I don’t have the focus or free hours to meditate for extended periods of time, so a book that I can take in small doses each day (or most days) is perfect for me.
The daily prompts incorporate different techniques to integrate the insights and healing properties of weed. A typical day with this book, all you need is yourself, a nice high, and an open mind. There are a couple of days in a given month where Kerri will instruct you to use other items as part of your practice. She includes a small shopping list at the beginning of each month so you are aware of what you need well before the day you’ll use it. These items are inexpensive, often found at grocery stores and little shops. I found that I had a lot of the items. If you keep things like dried flowers, essential oils, and various crystals/stones handy, you won’t need to run to the store much.
I’ve found this book helpful and relatable. I love how Kerri incorporates elements of your everyday life into something deeper. One of my favorite meditations I have gone back to a few times, incorporated listening to music. I believe we’re capable of living a happier more peaceful life if we take a minute to slow down and reflect on what is around us. For anyone looking for an easy-to-integrate meditative practice enhanced with weed: 420 Meditations is a must-read (and practice) by a practical witch.
